I had my first "real" job interview! "Real" meaning I had to have a bachelor's degree to apply for the job :)
The position is for a program coordinator. I'd be doing office work for local high schools, recruiting college students to be tutors, and also some social-work things for targeted students. The job is perfect for my perfectionism/organization as well as my interests.
I walked in confidently with fitted slacks, a fancy shirt, blazer, low rounded-toe heels and a smile on my face. My first thought: Phew, I'm dressed like the other women in the office. So far so good. The secretary lets my interviewer know I'm there. She comes out, we shake hands, and she takes me to a room where she proceeds to tell me about the job. Slowly the interview developed into a conversation, where I felt less like I was being put on the spot and more like I was being recruited for the position. Second thought(feeling): relief. As the interview ended she let me know that she thought I'd be a great fit for the job. Obviously, as soon as I walk out, i immediately think of all the things I should have said that would have sounded better. Then I remind myself, it's over. I think it went well. I'll find out by next week!
Oh...growing up. More on that later!
